LineTrust South Canterbury was formed in 1992 when the South Canterbury Power Trust was resettled. It holds 40% of the shares in Alpine Energy Limited, the company which owns the electricity lines in South Canterbury region.
Line Trust approached SPF to design a new logo and website. The logo was created by combining the outline of power lines and the L and T from Line trust and drawn using just one line, this decision was made to symbolise power cables, almost as if the logo was made out of electric cables. We chose to use yellow as the primary colour as it is synonymous with power and energy (a good example of this is Pikachu from the Pokemon franchise) so in combination with the shape of the logo it reads as a power company logo within seconds of seeing it.
We designed various other elements to help brand the website, one of the main pieces was an icon that showed the journey of power from station to home, we depicted this in one single line, again to draw a parallel to the logo and tie the website to the logo making the branding more cohesive.
